NOTES
Mellifluous, enticing, passionate and dexterous - these are superlatives most certainly appropriate for defining the style and sound of singer/songwriter/musician Ty Causey. After lacing tracks on smooth jazz saxophonist, Najee's, Morning Tenderness CD and joining him as featured vocalist on his world tour of the same name, Causey began crafting what has ultimately become the aptly titled debut, N-Tysing featuring the fine work of Najee and bassist, Nelson Braxton of the standout jazz duo, Braxton Brothers. The result unveils an artist that harkens back to the storied crooners of the past, but with a present day sheen that boasts a collage of R&B, jazz and sensual soul. This recording should mark the overdue emergence of a vocalist primed for addition to a list of superb love kindlers.

Rooted within a gospel tradition, Causey began singing in the local church circuit of his native Indiana. His talent as well as acclaim would quickly blossom affording him the opportunity to perform both nationally and internationally with such gospel music icons as James Cleveland, the Hawkins singers, Shirley Caesar and a host of other notable artists. After stints in musical theater and as lead vocalist with a promising vocal group, Causey would ultimately shift his sites to a solo career that has proven to be the right choice indeed. He has since opened for as well as shared the stage with a number of prominent R&B and jazz artists such as Peter White, Norman Brown, Kirk Whalum and Pieces of a Dream, while capturing a burgeoning number of fans in the process.

Causey's warm tone, expansive range and superb delivery together with an obvious songwriting prowess that brackets the worlds of love and romance, is a joy to discover. And discover you most certainly will as he lays down poetic prose with charm and swaying sincerity on pleasing cuts throughout - down-tempo gems like "Reminisce in the Moonlight", a splendid lyrical take on George Duke's "Until Sunrise" or "Your Love's A Mystery" featuring Najee - and those with a cool, infectious groove such as "Keep it Smooth", "Lifetime Friend" and "Everything About Cha."

With the advent of N-Tysing prepare to be soothed into singing the praises of Ty Causey and counting yourself amongst those keen enough to contribute to his rise.
